Exotic still life

There is a beautiful exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum about Caribbean artists, and especially about Francisco Oller from Puerto Rico.

I was particularly touched by the still lives he painted by the end of the nineteenth century. Even though he was very influenced by the style of European artists, the subject of his art work was different and exotic, using pineapples, coconuts, plantains and much more as the main objects of his studies
